Union Ministers of Commerce, Steel & MSME meet stakeholders to bring down steel prices

New Delhi, 10 Dec (KNN) Addressing the rise in input cost of steel and its impact on small industries, the Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal convened a meeting with participants from Steel Industry and Actual Industry users on Thursday.

He appealed to the steel makers to look into the possibilities of offering relief to MSMEs and exporters, said the press release.

Commerce Minister Goyal further said that special care of MSMEs needs to be taken for easier and cost effective supply of Steel. He asked the Steel Industry stakeholders to assess the manufacturing costs and explore the possibilities of offering relief to small industries using steel as input for manufacturing of components and  other engineering products.

It is stated that the Steel Industry stakeholders have showed intent to support Small and Medium enterprises and exporters, and have assured the Small Enterprises and Exporters about finding affordable solutions to address their challenges especially in the wake of the pandemic.

The meeting was also attended by the Union Minister of Steel, Ram Chandra Prasad Singh, Minister of MSME, Narayan Tatu Rane, along with senior officials of the concerned Ministries.

Industry stakeholders such as, Chairperson, SAIL,  Soma Mondal, CMD, Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd., Atul Bhatt, CMD, JSW Steel Ltd., Sajjan Jindal, CEO and MD, Tata Steel, T.V Narendran, DG & CEO, Federation of Indian Exporters Organization (FIEO), Dr. Ajay Shai, Mohit Jauhari of Auto Components Manufacturers Association (ACMA), Chairman, EEPC, Mahesh Desai, Secretary General, All India Cycle Manufacturers Association, Dr. K.B Thakur also attended the meeting, along with members of the senior management from JSPL and AMNS.
