UP CM requests Prabhu to incorporate proposals mooted by state govt in forthcoming Rail Budget

Lucknow, Feb 24 (KNN) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has written a letter to Union Railways Minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, requesting him to incorporate proposals, mooted by the state government as per special needs of Uttar Pradesh, in the forthcoming Union Railway Budget for the financial year 2016-17.

According to a release, in the letter, the Chief Minister has also requested that the broad gauge work between Etawah-Mainpuri be completed in the current financial year and budgetary provisions be made in this budget.

He has also sought construction of a new railway track on the new Mandhana Panki bypass after removal of the existing rail line between Mandhana and Anwarganj on the Kannauj-Kanpur rail section.

Yadav has also requested the Railway Minister for maximum railway over bridges to ease traffic in all major cities of the state, development of the Aishbagh railway station as the satellite station of Charbagh railway station and laying a third rail line in Allahabad and Kanpur, the release added.

Other than this, the Chief Minister also apprised Prabhu that the state has acquired land from its own resources and is constructing the Lucknow-Agra Greenfield Expressway and that if the union government provides for a parallel railway line or bullet train project for the state, Uttar Pradesh will provide free-of-cost land for this project to the Railway Ministry.

The Chief Minister has also expressed hope that the railway ministry would incorporate as many as possible proposals mooted by the state government in the best interests of the state, in the Union Rail Budget for 2016-17. (KNN Bureau)
