Urgent need to include global awareness issues in local discussions: Director, NIT Srinagar

New Delhi, Mar 5 (KNN) The society is transforming rapidly, and in this growing and changing era there is an urgent need to include global awareness issues in the local level discussions for all-round development of students, said Director NIT Srinagar, Dr. Rakesh Sehgal.

He said this while addressing a Seminar on Entrepreneurship and MSME Schemes. 

Sehgal said such initiatives are aimed to provide a stress-free atmosphere in the campus, he said.

Registrar NIT, Prof. Kaiser Bukhari appreciated the organizers of the day-long seminar. 

He said, the primary aim of the event was to make students aware of prevailing market challenges, schemes, and their possible solutions.

The Institutions Innovation Council (IIC) and Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneur Development Center (IIEDC) in association with Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises yesterday organized a joint awareness seminar on ‘Entrepreneurship and MSME Schemes’ at National Institution of Technology (NIT) Srinagar.

Dr. Dinesh Kumar Rajendran was the Convener of the program and around 60 participants attended the seminar.

The session was hosted by the Assistant Director of MSME, Srinagar Cluster, Saheel Alaqband. 

He explained what makes an entrepreneur different from a job seeker and discussed the need for entrepreneurs in Kashmir valley.

Alaqband also explained about the various schemes in MSME and assured the participants to come up with a better idea and he will help in getting financial support.

The participants were very eager and asked too many questions about various entrepreneurs’ backgrounds and also different schemes in MSME to start with their ventures.

Head Innovation, Incubation & Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IIEDC) NIT Srinagar, Prof. Saad Parvez said IIED center has been promoting innovations and entrepreneurship at every level inside and outside the campus,” he said.

He said IIEDC is on a perpetual journey of deepening the start-up activities in Jammu & Kashmir, especially the valley, by attempting to solve problems of common people at the individual or community level.

With the application of knowledge and expertise pursuing product development along with the budding entrepreneurs, he said.

Earlier, Dr. Dinesh Kumar Rajendran, Convener IIC of NIT Srinagar addressed the gathering and stated that they are conducting their activities on a regular basis.

Dinesh said, "The primary mandate of MIC is to encourage, inspire and nurture young students by supporting them to work with new ideas while they are in formative years,” he said.

Kumar later presented a vote of thanks to all participants, students for making the event successful and also narrated the year-long activities of the Institutions Innovation Council at NIT Srinagar. (KNN Bureau)
