New Delhi, Dec 27 (KNN) The Office of Development Commissioner for Handlooms is keen to expand market for handloom by setting up mega cluster for integrated and holistic development in Varanasi.

Under the Comprehensive Handloom Cluster Development Scheme (CHCDS), the Ministry of Textiles is establishing various projects like common facility centre and design studio.

Towards this, the government is seeking partnership from different agencies indicating the location, possession of land, project components, their cost, funding etc.

The objective of CHCDS is to provide requisite support in terms of adequate technical infrastructure, technology, product diversification, design development, raw material banks, marketing and promotion, credit, social security and other components which would eventually be able to meet the discerning and changing market demands both at domestic and at the international level and raise living standards of the millions of weavers engaged in the handloom industry.
