Visa on Arrival shows 47% growth in Q1

New Delhi, Apr 12 (KNN)  Tourists from more and more countries are getting visa on arrival (VoA) and their number has increased by 47.1 per cent during January-March 2013 when compared to the corresponding period last year.

“During the period January to March 2013, a total number of 5,744 VoAs were issued as compared to 3,905 VoAs during corresponding period of 2012 registering a positive growth of 47.1 per cent,” said an official statement.

The 11 countries which get visa on arrival are Japan, New Zealand, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Finland, Luxembourg, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos.  
The largest number of arrivals were from Japan (2251) followed by New Zealand (985) and Indonesia (739); while the smallest was from Laos (3).

The VoA for the foreign tourists in the month of March also showed a growth of 63 per cent when compared to same period last year.   March 2013 saw a total of 2107 visitors compared to 2107 last year.  (KNN)
