WB takes steps to increase efficiency of power services

The West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) will implement spot billing in respect of medium and low voltage (M&LV) domestic and commercial consumers under quarterly billing system having connected load below 50 kVA under different CCCs within the jurisdiction of WBSEDCL, according to an official notice.
In this regard, the company has invited bids from service providers on rate contract basis in BOOM model (Build Operate Own and Maintain) to implement spot billing system in all the Customer Care Centres, having consumer strength of 135 lakhs (approx) under 488 CCCs throughout West Bengal which may increase time to time.
The vendor would need to prepare billing zones, meter reading schedule, take meter readings, generate bills, identify ghost consumers, etc.
WBSEDCL provides power to 96 per cent of West Bengal, catering to every sector. It serves a customer base of more than 1 crore across the state. The service network spans over 5 Zones, 17 Regional Offices, 53 Distribution Divisions and 464 Customer Care Centres. (KNN/ST)
