“We have a target of Doubling the farmers income in coming five years”: Narendra Modi

New Delhi, Nov 3 (KNN) The private sector participation has increased in all the sectors of the economy said Prime Minister Modi while Inaugurating World Food India (WFI) 2017. He said the focus of private sector should be on contract farming, raw material sourcing and creation of agri-linkages and the global supermarket chains should start considering India as major outsourcing hub.

He also said that the combination of Indian traditional food with modern food processing technology can help rediscover the health benefits of Indian foods like tulsi, and ginger and tulsi, turmeric at global level.

He said that the government has introduced Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana to improve the ford processing infrastructure in the country which is expected to generate half millions jobs and value addition of 2 million.

Finanace Minister Arun Jailtely said that India has become market centric society in the last since 1991 reforms and has shown the world its capacity to take diffcicult decisions. Food Processing and preservation is about to witness huge change in coming years and investors within and outside the country should consider investing in India.

Speaking at the event Processing Industries Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal said   India has become beacon of hope even in this era of global complexities and has emerged as most liberal Foreign Direct Investment Destination .The FDI has increased to 60% in the past three years. She said the major reforms of the government like roll out of GST, bankruptcy law, Direct Benefit Transfer Direct Transfer, mudra yojana policies would strengthen the economy and would have a positive spillover effect in food processing sector. (KNN/AG)
