Weavers urged to increase the production base & also develop new designs

Dimapur, July 29 (KNN) Assam's Deputy Director of Weavers Service Center (WSC), Dr. V. Sivakkumar urged the weavers to increase the production base and also develop new designs.
Invited as a Chief Guest at the Ministry of MSME sponsored awareness program on Scheme of fund for regeneration of traditional industries (SFURTI), Sivakkumar shared various schemes of Weavers Service Centre.
The program on SFURTI was organized by Naga Women’s Welfare Society, Dimapur in association with Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) at Tseithrongse village here.
On the occasion, General Manager, DIC, Dimapur, P. Tokugha Achummi lauded the efforts of Naga Women’s Welfare Society for implementation of the projects.
He informed that the objective was to equip traditional artisans of the associated clusters with improved skills and capabilities through training and exposure visits and to make provision for common facilities for artisans so that they are able to gauge the emerging challenges and opportunities.
Highlighting the activities of EPCH in North Eastern States, Project officer (NER), EPCH, Guwahati, Bhaskar Baruah said “EPCH organizes various domestic and international marketing events throughout the year for the artisans/entrepreneurs of north eastern states.”
He also urged the artisans to participate and avail benefits of these marketing events. (KNN/LM)
