Wedding season to generate Rs. 50,000 cr business in Delhi: CAIT

New Delhi, 9 Nov (KNN) As per the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) more than 1.5 lakh weddings are expected to take place in this season in Delhi, which is likely to generate a business of about INR 50,000 crore.

“Around 25 lakh wedding will be solemnised across the country with a flow of about 3 lakh crores of rupees through wedding purchasing and obtaining various services in the business being conducted by trading community,” said CAIT.

CAIT National President BC Bhartia and Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal said that in view of the good business prospects of the wedding season, traders across the country have made elaborate preparations, as they will want to continue the sentiments emanated from just concluded record business figures of diwali this year.

“Traders are keeping all arrangements up to date with them to meet the possible rush of customers,” said the two senior officials.

They informed that before the wedding season, a large amount of business such as repairing and painting of the houses will take place.

Apart from this, jewellery, sarees, lehenga-chuni, readymade garments, clothes, footwear, wedding and greeting cards, dry fruits, sweets, fruits, worship items, grocery, food grains, decoration items, electrical utility, electronics and many gift items etc are usually in demand and it is expected to do good business this year.

“Overall in this one month wedding season around Rs 3 lakh crore will flow through the wedding purchases in the markets,” said CAIT.
