Workshop on Indian MSMEs & ZED for Supply Chain Sustainability being held in Kolkata

Kolkata, July 7 (KNN) A workshop on “Indian MSMEs & Zero Effect Zero Defect (ZED) for Supply Chain Sustainability” is being organized on July 15 Jadavpur University, Kolkata.

To be an active part of the Global Manufacturing hub that India is poised to be, Indian MSMEs must organize and direct their operations towards a globally acceptable standard of "Bad-Variability Control" - which will ultimately lead them to Zero Effect Zero Defect (ZED). It needs to focus on the sustainability of its value chain, said the organizers.

Under various global policy and research initiatives, Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Centre for Quality management system, in Jadavpur University through its foreign counterparts all across the globe, have been relentlessly working to bring the essence of best global practices among industry partners and especially among Indian MSMEs, who are the backbone of Indian economy.

The programme is being organized by Jadhavpur University with the support of UKIERI and Erasmus Plus.

One day workshop will showcase few case studies wherein best practices initiated by some of the Indian MSMEs after their exposure visit to UK.

Senior Professors and Researchers from Aston University, UK; Jadavpur University, senior government officials, Industry experts from leading Indian MNCs will highlight the best practices that should be adopted by Indian MSMEs to reach the highest professional standards in every sphere of manufacturing.

A panel discussion & interactive session on Waste Elimination & ZED, bad-variability reduction in aspects of Inventory management, Capacity Utilization, TQM, Flexible manufacturing, TPM, Energy Management, Supply Chain Management - and how the MSMEs can actually ascertain their present position and improve on these subjects in real life situation will be discussed by academic and industry experts.

Panelists will be from various Indian Large Public Sector and Private Sector Industries, Government Policy Makers, Researchers and Chambers of Commerce.

The program is meant for MSME unit owners, senior management of MSMEs, researchers, faculty members from different technical schools and B Schools, Government Officials, Large Industry Senior Management, who can provide inputs to enrich the interactive discussion and network with academia and industry.
