Haryana Eyes New Export, Investment Opportunities Through India-UK CETA: Saini
Chandigarh, Sep 15 (KNN) The India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) is set to create new market access for Haryana’s textiles, footwear, gems and jewellery and engineering sectors, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said on Monday.
Addressing the ‘Haryana-UK CETA Trade Bridge: Unlocking Global Opportunities for Haryana’ programme, Saini said the state would leverage the agreement to turn its industrial strengths into export orders, investments and jobs, particularly for MSMEs, startups and young entrepreneurs.
Haryana Targets Rs 5 Lakh Crore Fresh Investment
The Chief Minister said Haryana aims to contribute USD 1 trillion to India’s economy as it approaches its 60th formation anniversary on November 1. The state targets Rs 5 lakh crore in fresh investment and over 10 lakh jobs by 2030-31, reported Times Of India.
Saini announced the Happening Haryana Global Investors Summit 2027 for April 5-7, with roadshows planned in seven Indian cities and nine global centres, including the UK, Japan, South Korea, Germany, Brazil, Chile and Dubai.
He said the 2016 summit attracted proposals worth Rs 6.41 lakh crore, while the latest outreach secured MoUs worth over Rs 66,000 crore with 17 companies in Mumbai in August.
Focus On Emerging Sectors And MSME Exports
Haryana has introduced 10 sector-specific policies covering semiconductors, electronics, AI, data centres, medical devices, automobiles, EVs, agribusiness and global capability centres.
Saini said 110 MoUs worth Rs 1.10 lakh crore, including Rs 24,350 crore in foreign investment, were signed on the first day.
The Haryana Progressive MSME and Export Promotion Policy-2026 targets over Rs 55,000 crore in investment, five lakh jobs and a doubling of exports.
Pawan Choudhary, adviser to the Chief Minister’s foreign cooperation department, said exports rose from around USD 12 billion in 2019-20 to USD 19 billion in 2025-26.
Haryana has 12,271 registered startups, including over 11,500 recognised under DPIIT and Startup India. He said CETA, effective July 15, had begun creating opportunities for exports, investment and employment.
UK Sees Scope For Business Partnerships
British Deputy High Commissioner Alba Smeriglio said Haryana’s strengths in manufacturing, agriculture, technology and services complement the UK’s expertise in advanced manufacturing, innovation, financial services, education and research. She said CETA could drive business partnerships, investment and job creation.
Industries and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh said Haryana wanted the agreement to go beyond trade and promote technology partnerships and investment.
Saini also invited UK investors and delegates to the International Gita Jayanti Mahotsav 2026, underscoring the state’s focus on combining economic and cultural engagement.
