PM Modi Inaugurates Rs 7,600 Crore Development Projects in Maharashtra Including Nagpur Airport

New Delhi, Oct 10 (KNN) In a major boost to Maharashtra’s development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for a series of projects worth over Rs 7,600 crore on Wednesday.

Spanning aviation, healthcare, education, and infrastructure, these initiatives are set to drive economic growth and enhance public services across the state.

One of the flagship projects is the upgradation of the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in Nagpur. With an investment of Rs 7,000 crore, this project aims to significantly improve connectivity, benefiting sectors such as manufacturing, tourism, logistics, and healthcare.

Officials believe the airport’s expansion will be a catalyst for job creation and economic activity in Nagpur and the surrounding Vidarbha region.

PM Modi also laid the foundation stone for the New Integrated Terminal Building at Shirdi Airport, a significant site for religious tourism.

Estimated at Rs 645 crore, the terminal’s design is inspired by the spiritual Neem tree, symbolically linked to Saibaba. The terminal will provide state-of-the-art facilities for the millions of pilgrims visiting the revered site each year.

In the healthcare sector, the Prime Minister launched 10 new government medical colleges across Maharashtra. These colleges, located in cities including Mumbai, Nashik, Jalna, and Amravati, aim to address the demand for medical education and services.

The new institutions will increase the number of medical seats, enhancing access to specialised healthcare for the state’s population.

Further advancing education and skill development, PM Modi inaugurated the Indian Institute of Skills (IIS) in Mumbai.

Developed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) with the Tata Education and Development Trust, the IIS will provide vocational training in cutting-edge fields like robotics, AI, and mechatronics, preparing students for the rapidly evolving technology sectors.

Additionally, the Prime Minister launched the Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK), an innovative, data-driven educational platform designed to optimize resource management in schools. VSK will use chatbots and digital tools to support teachers and students, with the goal of improving learning outcomes across Maharashtra.

These development initiatives mark a significant stride in Maharashtra’s progress, focusing on enhancing infrastructure, healthcare, education, and skills, and positioning the state for sustained economic growth.
