13th National Handloom Expo showcases a variety of silk, cotton fabrics

It was inaugurated on Wednesday by Odisha Handlooms, Textiles and Handicrafts Minister Sarojini Hembram.
Organised by Odisha State Handlooms, the Expo that is being held here from January-22 to February-14 has as many as 18 states participating, displaying their spectacular wares in about 100 stalls.
Among the products on display are cotton, tassar, silk, muga and other handloom fabrics.
A quarter of the 100 stalls have been reserved for primary weaver cooperative societies, self-help groups and handloom agencies of Odisha such as Boyanika, Sambalpuri, Bastrayala and SERIFED.
According to reports, last year, over Rs 580 lakh worth of handloom products were sold. It is estimated that the figure may reach over Rs seven crore this year.
Each year, the event has provided a platform for a buyer-seller meet. (KNN/ES)
