15 Startups to get grant of Rs 3 lakh each by Innovation Mission Accelerator, Punjab

Chandigarh, July 12 (KNN) With the aim to develop the startup ecosystem in the state, the Punjab government’s Innovation Mission (IM Punjab) accelerator will grant Rs 3 lakh to 15 startups.

Under the accelerator program, IM Punjab will invest in startups working across agritech, deeptech, food processing, logistics, and edtech, among others.

“Each startup will get INR 3 Lakhs grant as work on inputs during the accelerator program for piloting in different markets, creating scalability, and leveraging technology,” Abhishek Purohit, head of accelerator program at IM Punjab, told Inc42.   

IM Punjab is essentially a public private partnership. Under this partnership, the state  government provides the financial support whereas IIM lead the organisational work.

The state-led organisation is also working on organising entrepreneurial awareness program for college students in the state. Under this initiative, the organisation holds contests and workshops in universities to teach the significance of entrepreneurship to the youth. 

The organisation is also planning to organise an entrepreneurs’ mela in early September this year. In the entrepreneurs’ mela, startups will be demonstrating their products and services. Women entrepreneurs will also get an opportunity to showcase their skills and seek investment from individual investors.  (KNN Bureau)
