20,000 MSMEs in Noida decide to boycott Chinese products

Noida, Jun 19 (KNN) Nearly 20,000 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) in Noida have decided to boycott Chinese products and equipment in the manufacturing process.

This decision has been collectively taken by the union of the MSME sector in Gautam Buddh Nagar.

A list has been prepared by the MSME sector in Noida which says in total only the MSME sector is consuming more than 500 products for the manufacturing sector in Noida which include LED Lights, bolts, PPE Kits, Masks, and several other pieces of equipment.

The decision came after a “violent face-off” on Monday night that resulted in the death of 20 Indian soldiers, including a colonel, triggered a fresh wave of anti-China sentiments in India as traders and consumers appealed to boycott Chinese products.

Surendra Nahata, president of the MSME Association in Gautam Buddh Nagar, has written a letter to all factories requesting them to boycott of Chinese products, as well as Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath informing them about the decision of boycotting Chinese tools and equipment.

Notably, amidst the ongoing lockdown due to Coronavirus, a lot of relief and measures have been taken by the government for the MSME sector as the sector has been hit hard during this period and finally the sector is now returning to normalcy.

Nahata also demanded the government of India to ban all Chinese products and support the local industry so that local industries can make those products at cheaper rates with better quality.

Meanwhile, Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has appealed to Bollywood celebrities to stop endorsing products of Chinese brands as a mark of respect for Indian soldiers who laid down their lives in the Galwan Valley attack in Ladakh.

In an open letter addressed to Indian Celebrities on Friday, the traders' body appealed Aamir Khan, Deepika Padukon, Katrina Kaif, Virat Kohli & others to stop endorsing Chinese products.

CAIT Secretary-General Praveen Khandelwal in the letter to Indian celebrities said that at a time when "China's army in the most clandestine manner has committed a barbaric attack on the Indian army at Ladakh border, the heart of every Indian is filled with deep anguish, resentment and abhorrence against the atrocities of the Chinese and their persistent attitude of antagonism towards India.

On Thursday, citing security threats, the government too ordered private companies apart from state-owned telecom companies BSNL and MTNL to stop using Chinese equipment.

''Chinese devices should not be used in upgrading 4G,'' the government said.
