24X7 power for all in AP

Hyderabad, Sept 16 (KNN) The “Power for All” initiative has been launched with the signing of an MoU between the Andhra Pradesh Government and the Ministry of Power, Government on India, effective October-2.

The MoU was signed here today in the presence of Chief Minister of AP, N Chandrababu Naidu, and Union Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy, Power and Coal, Piyush Goyal.

Other states other than AP that have launched the 24X7 power supply to all sectors, excluding agriculture are Delhi and Rajasthan.

The state government has also signed a MoU with NTPC for a 1000 MW solar park.  Further, the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) will hand over 1200 acres of land to NTPC for setting up a 4000 MW super critical ultra-mega thermal power project in Pudimadaka, Visakhapatnam district at a cost of Rs 20,000 crore.

Yet another MoU was signed between the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and the State government for setting up three solar power parks with generation capacity of 2500 MW.

The state government has also signed a MoU with Hero Motor Corporation Limited to establish a motor cycle unit for which APIIC has handed over 600 acres of land near Sri City SEZ.

MoUs were also signed between SECI and APGENCO / NREDCAP for development of 2500 MW Ultra Mega Solar Power Projects; between Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) and State Energy Conservation Mission (SECM) for Energy Efficiency and conservation measures in Andhra Pradesh; between Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), NREDCAP for logistics support in Energy Efficiency and Conservation measures in Andhra Pradesh and launch of portal for real-time monitoring of 33/11 kV feeders.

Dignitaries present on the occasion were Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Ashoka Gajapathi Raju, Joint Secretary Ministry of Energy, Jyothi Arora; CMD, NTPC, Arup Rai Chowdary; Secretary, MNRE, Karun Kapoor, CMD, Solar Energy Corporation, Rajendra Kumar Nimje, CEO of DRDO Ajay Singh, President Hero Motor Corporation Ltd, Rajesh Vasishta, MD Energy Efficiency Corporation Ltd, Sourab Kumar; and other senior officials.  (KNN Bureau)
