30 per cent MSMEs in Karnataka will cut lakhs of jobs: KASSIA

Bangalore, Apr 27 (KNN) The Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (KASSIA) has said around 30 per cent of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) will remove lakhs of employees out of job, if no substantive relief measures offered by the centre or state.

KASSIA said that the SMEs badly need support by way of payroll, electricity and interest payment subsidies as well as suitable reduction of G S T rates and compliance requirements.

''No substantive reliefs have been offered either by the centre or the state and the minor concessions offered are not implemented down the line. As a result, over 30 per cent of SMEs, backbone of the economy will fold up throwing lakhs out of job,'' said KASSIA in a statement.

KASSIA, also demanded Karnataka Chief Minister to kindly convene a meeting of senior officers concerned, under his chairmanship, to discuss relating to finance, Labour, electricity and commercial taxes and others relevant to find some solution to the following serious problems facing industry.
