4 more district industrial growth centres to be set up in Tripura

New Delhi, July 7 (KNN) The Tripura government will set up four new industrial growth centres to develop trade infrastructure across the state.

With four growth centres at Unakoti, Gomati, Dhalai and West Tripura district, the state cabinet in its crucial meeting decided to develop four more district industrial growth centres in the state.

Speaking on the sidelines of a news conference, education minister Ratan Lal Nath said that the centres would be built at MB Unit in Dharmanagar in North Tripura, Belonia in South Tripura, Bishalgarh in Sipahijala and Khowai in Khowai district.

He said that the government is focusing on boosting industrial growth to create jobs and ensure overall development.

"Tripura will be developed as model state in the country in the next five years," he said, adding that industrial progress is a pre-requisite for such development.”

In addition, Tripura has huge potential to establish a natural resource-based industry, Nath added.

Emphasizing on the self generated revenue, he said that our government wants to stand up on its own feet in terms of revenue and development both and in this regard we have started to develop our own revenue.

Among the operational centres, the Bodjungnagar and R.K. Nagar units in West Tripura are the most successful.

Bodhjungnagar industrial estate, spanning across 398 acre in Jirania sub-division has 44 industrial units, including a food park, a rubber park, an export promotion industrial park and a bamboo park.

A tool room and a training centre will be set up at the estate.
