8 new electronic manufacturing clusters across UP, Gujarat, Maharashtra planned

New Delhi, Jun 18 (KNN) The Centre has identified eight new areas which will be covered under the modified special incentive subsidy scheme for giving a boost to the electronic manufacturing. The new electronic manufacturing hubs will come up at Ghaziabad, Vadodra, Gandhinagar, Nagpur, Nasik, Aurangabad and Thane.

This information was given by Union Minister for Communication and IT, Ravi Shankar Prasad to reporters here. Listing priorities for the Department of Electronics and IT under his Ministry, he said that electronic manufacturing shall be a key area of priority. This sector has the potential to give employment to 28 million persons.

The Ministry has also taken up development of greenfield (new) electronic manufacturing clusters in Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Hyderabad, Maheshwaram, Bhiwadi, Jabalpur, Hosur and Kakhanada.

Prasad also said that he was in the process of working out a transparent arrangement for the telecom spectrum related issues keeping in view the twin objectives of consumer welfare and the country’s growth in the field of mobile telephony. 

Spelling out the priorities for Department of Posts under his Ministry, he said his Ministry was working to establish Postal Banking that would be designed for financial inclusion. The total saving deposits across 1,55,000 post offices in the country was already more than Rs 6 lakh crores. (KNN Bureau)
