Lucknow, Feb 25 (KNN) A world bank scheme for unorganized micro food processing industry will be implemented in Uttar Pradesh (UP) soon in order to provide the industry with technical support, said an official present at the 6th edition of India Food Expo, 2019 held in the city last week.

With this scheme, the micro food processing units will come up in rural areas in large numbers, said Dr. S.B. Sharma, Joint Director Horticulture and Food Processing, Uttar Pradesh.

The event was organized to boost the setting up of Food Processing Industry in UP.

More than 50 companies from within and outside the state displayed their products and services in this exhibition. On all the three days of the exhibition, visitors thronged in large numbers. About 3000 visitors availed the opportunity.

From this exhibition maximum benefit was drawn by the existing and prospective entrepreneurs.

They not only got to know about the food processing machinery but also got information about what products they can make and from where they will get the technology for the same.

With this useful information more food processing industries will come up in the state and unemployed youth will get employment.

This exhibition organized jointly by Indian Industries Association (IIA) and Horticulture and Food Processing Department, UP has achieved its objective.

In the closing ceremony, Director, Horticulture and Food Processing, UP, Dr. R.P. Singh was the Chief Guest and Sharma was the Guest of Honour.

In his address Singh said that government has setup a target to double the income of farmers by the year 2022.

To achieve this target not only the production of agriculture output is to be increased but also to be ensured that the farmers are able to get reasonable price for their produce, he added.

For doing so, development and contribution of food processing industry is very critical, he said.

UP is leading in food grain, sugar cane, milk and potato production compared to other states. Therefore, food processing units are required to be setup in the respective areas where these agriculture products are available.

Government of UP and the Central Government has come out with several schemes and policies for the promotion of food processing industry.

National President IIA, Sunil Vaish said that 7th edition of India Food Expo will be organized at a large scale where exhibitors and visitors will get more facilities.
