Lucknow, Apr 30 (KNN) The UP State Industrial Development Corporation seems to have received a not-so-encouraging response from the private sector to its proposal to develop a theme park in Agra to further promote tourism in the city of Taj.

It is in this background that the corporation has been forced to re-invite expressions from the private parties for the project which will come up in the public-private-private partnership model.

The economic slowdown in the hospitality industry may also be one of the reasons for the investors' indifference.

The project is likely to boost tourism in the state and will have a multiplier impact by providing employment and increasing the income of local stakeholders when guests prolong their stay.

The project has been taken up by the state tourism department as a strategy to develop attractions for various interest groups and which can make tourists spend a longer time in Agra.

The city is visited by almost 10 million tourists annually. In the coming years, a whole lot of mega projects are to be launched, including an international airport, a theme park, the Taj Ganj beautification project, Metro rail, Agra-Lucknow Expressway and IT and Leather Parks. (KNN Bureau)
