Agri export marketing training programme held for Cooperatives & FPOs in J&K

Srinagar, July 26 (KNN) The Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST-K) has organised a four-day agri export marketing training for Cooperatives and FPOs at its Shalimar campus. 

The training has been jointly organised in partnership with Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management (VAMNICOM), Pune.

Through this training, SKUAST-K aims to provide participants with comprehensive knowledge and skills on various aspects of international marketing with a special focus on the export of apple, walnut and saffron crops. 

While addressing the participants at the training launch, SKUAST-K Vice Chancellor, Prof Nazir Ahmad Ganai highlighted the role of SKUAST-K in conducting short-term vocational courses for skill development in the Agri-processing sector and the importance of establishing direct links between processors and exporters.

Director VAMNICOM, Dr Hema Yadav, emphasised the role of cooperatives and FPOs to support traceability in agricultural value chains for the benefit of both producers and consumers. She  highlighted the immense potential of value addition of agricultural commodities and direct linkages of cooperatives and FPOs with the export market for enhancing farmers' income.

This training will help strengthen the cooperative societies and FPOs and therefore help in doubling the income of farmers’ in the region.  (KNN Bureau)
