AITF asks Punjab govt to put more efforts to curb GST corruption
Ludhiana, Aug 25 (KNN) Claiming that Punjab has become the den of Goods and Services Tax (GST) corruption and many kingpins are still untouched by the government, the All Industries and Trade Forum (AITF) has written a letter to Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh asking him to put more efforts to curb the GST corruption in the state.
AITF national president Badish Jindal who is also the president of the Federation of Punjab Small Industries Association (FOPSIA) in its letter to Capt. Singh also said, ''intrastate and interstate passing of unbilled material is not new in Punjab, since last 10 years we are raising the issue of passing.''
''There are many passers in Ludhiana, Gobindgarh, Jalandhar and other major cities of Punjab. We gave the name of these passers so many times but the department never took any action,'' Jindal added.
Jindal further said that often AITF provided information about the traders and exporters who were involved in multibillion GST scam but again no action was taken against those traders causing huge loss to the exchequer.
Unfortunately, officers who were facing the enquiries of corruption but unfortunately many of them are given the top posts in the department, he alleged.
He also asserted that despite the information conveyed to the department that how the exporters are using the dummy invoices to get the export incentives, the department least bothered about such acts.
''To strengthen the financial position of our state there is dire need to end the corruption in the GST department,'' he suggested.
He also suggested a major reshuffle in the GST department to eradicate the corruption in true spirit and said that AITF is ready to share the information regarding the corrupt officers, traders and transporters.
''We ardently hope that our request would get your kind consideration and would be treated accordingly,'' he concluded.
