Amarinder Singh meets Japanese ambassador seeking investments - cooperation in industry

New Delhi, Oct 31 (KNN) Eyeing at channelizing support to the industries in the state, the Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Monday met the Japanese Ambassador Kenji Hiramatsu proposing avenues of cooperation in different fields including agriculture, renewable energy, skill development.

The CM also proposed potential cooperation between the two countries on promotion of investment in the state.

Singh said that Japan has been a successful economic partner of Punjab since ages and with the State’s new “industrial and Business Development Policy “. Enlightening the ambassador on the industrial policy, he said that the new policy will strengthen the industry in Punjab and will help Japan to increase its industrial base.

He informed the ambassador about the government’s plan to set up one agency (Industrial and Business Development Authority) to maintain and manage all the industrial estates which are currently run by different bodies. He also said that the government was also planning to set up 12 new industrial estates and four new industrial parks in Punjab along with a skills university.

The chief minister informed the ambassador that the government is considering  setting up Japan India Institute of Manufacturing  (JIM) in the next phase after central government’s consent. (KNN/AG)
