New Delhi, April 9 (KNN) E-retail giant Amazon has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Telangana government to help the small and medium enterprises take advantage of the digital economy.

With this view, Amazon will teach as many as 1,000 SMEs based in the state to leverage the full benefits of e-commerce platform.

The e-commerce giant will help them through seminars, workshops, video aids and ready reckoners on “how to list and manage inventory for an ecommerce business.”

In a major development, the company also unveiled its plans to begin operations next month at its fulfilment centre in Kattur, near Hyderabad. Earlier, Amazon had the plans to set up the fulfilment centre in Karnataka, but owing to some taxation issues, the US based firms decided to choose Telangana rather than neighbouring state Karnataka.

The e-commerce major last year had announced investment of USD 2 billion (about Rs 12,500 crore) in the country. (KNN/SD)
