Andhra Pradesh Aims To Contribute USD 9 Billion To National Seafood Export Target
Amaravati, Jun 6 (KNN) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday said the state aims to contribute 30 percent of the Centre’s target of achieving USD 30 billion in annual seafood exports, while outlining plans to modernise the aquaculture and fisheries sector.
Andhra Pradesh Targets Major Share In Seafood Exports
Addressing a joint press conference with Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, the Chief Minister highlighted the state's strategy to strengthen aquaculture infrastructure and exports, reported The Hindu.
Naidu said Andhra Pradesh would implement the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Kisan Samridhi Sah-Yojana (PMMKSSY) to support the growth of the fisheries sector. He also assured that pending issues related to the Visakhapatnam Fishing Harbour would be resolved expeditiously.
Circular Economy Projects Planned For Aquaculture Sector
The state government, with support from the Centre, plans to launch projects in Bhimavaram aimed at integrating the aquaculture sector with a circular economy model to improve sustainability and resource efficiency.
The Chief Minister also urged the Union government to provide support to farmers affected by market volatility and declining support prices for various agricultural commodities.
Naidu Highlights Progress In Energy Infrastructure
Highlighting developments in the energy sector, Naidu said India has made significant progress since 2014, particularly through the creation of a unified national power grid that enables electricity generated in one part of the country to be transmitted and utilised elsewhere.
He noted that solar power tariffs have declined substantially from around Rs 14 per unit to Rs 2.40 per unit, attributing the reduction to policy interventions and growth in the renewable energy sector.
State Expands Renewable Energy Manufacturing
Naidu further said government initiatives have enabled domestic manufacturing of solar panels in Andhra Pradesh, reducing dependence on imports and strengthening the state's renewable energy ecosystem.
Emphasising sustainable development, he cited central schemes such as PM Surya Ghar and PM-KUSUM as important drivers of energy conservation and clean energy adoption.
The Chief Minister said continued collaboration between the Centre and states would be essential for strengthening aquaculture, boosting exports and advancing India's broader sustainable growth objectives.
