Amravati, Oct 1 (KNN) The Andhra Pradesh government is making an aggressive push to attract Airbus to set up a manufacturing facility in the state, as part of its strategy to strengthen aerospace and defence manufacturing under the Make in India initiative.
This development comes during the first-ever visit of the Airbus Board to India, signalling the company’s intent to explore indigenisation and deeper local participation.
State Minister Nara Lokesh has pitched Andhra Pradesh as a strong contender by highlighting the availability of land, skilled workforce, and dedicated aerospace corridors.
The government is also emphasising ease of doing business through fast-track clearances, single-window systems, and investor-friendly policies.
By showcasing its supplier ecosystem and logistics advantages with ports and airports, Andhra Pradesh is positioning itself as a hub for aerospace manufacturing and component supply.
The potential Airbus investment could unlock significant opportunities for the state. It promises large-scale job creation, technology transfer, and the growth of ancillary industries such as MSMEs that can serve as suppliers to the aerospace sector.
Additionally, the presence of Airbus would place Andhra Pradesh on the global aerospace map and boost India’s efforts to expand domestic manufacturing in high-value sectors.
For Airbus, establishing a facility in Andhra Pradesh would support its global supply chain diversification goals while aligning with India’s push for self-reliance in defence and aviation.
If finalised, this project could become a landmark for both Andhra Pradesh’s industrial growth and India’s aerospace ambitions.
