CM Naidu Urges Gadkari To Fast-Track Infrastructure Projects In Andhra Pradesh

Amaravati, Aug 4 (KNN) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has formally requested Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari to expedite clearances for metro rail projects in Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada.

During their discussions, Naidu assured the union minister that the state government would provide all necessary cooperation for the seamless implementation of highway development projects.

The Chief Minister emphasised that the state administration would address land acquisition challenges to prevent delays in critical road infrastructure projects.

Naidu expressed gratitude to Gadkari for approving eight road projects, including a significant greenfield highway connecting Hyderabad and Vijayawada, with a collective investment of approximately Rs 27,000 crore.

The meeting took place during a ceremony where Minister Gadkari virtually inaugurated foundation stones for 27 road projects and formally opened two completed projects on Saturday.

Naidu welcomed Gadkari's agreement to recommend approval for an Outer Ring Road surrounding the capital city of Amaravati.

In his address, the Chief Minister proposed the development of high-speed rail connectivity between Amaravati and major metropolitan centres including Hyderabad, Chennai, and Bengaluru.

He suggested that such bullet train connections would serve the substantial populations across these states and enhance regional connectivity.

Naidu reported that road infrastructure projects valued at over Rs 70,000 crore are currently at various implementation stages throughout Andhra Pradesh.

The state government has prioritised the development of maritime and aviation infrastructure to establish comprehensive logistics capabilities across the region.

The Chief Minister praised Gadkari's leadership in advancing highway projects involving substantial financial commitments. Naidu expressed confidence that under the Union Minister's guidance, the daily construction rate of national highways would increase from the current 37 kilometers to 50 kilometers per day.

Acknowledging Gadkari's previous contributions, Naidu highlighted the minister's instrumental role in the Polavaram project development during his tenure as Union Minister for Water Resources. The Chief Minister recognised the minister's continued support for the state's infrastructure advancement.

In his remarks, Minister Gadkari commended Naidu's strategic vision for interconnecting the Godavari, Krishna, and Penna river systems.

The Union Minister emphasised the project's potential to extend water distribution benefits to remote areas, including tail-end regions in Tamil Nadu, demonstrating the interstate impact of the proposed water management initiative.
