Rajasthan exporters scout for manufacturing location in Rapthadu, AP

Rapthadu, Nov 7 (KNN) To assess the possibility of setting up a garments manufacturing clusters at Rapthadu in Anantapur district, a team of garments exporters from Rajasthan visited Andhra Pradesh on Sunday.

Addressing the media, Rapthadu MLA Thopudurthy Prakash Reddy said that 12 member team visited the 60-acre vacant land alongside the Alumuru Jagananna Colony and they seemed intent upon utilising the land in view of the easy availability of the workforce, according to a report in The Hindu.

He further said that “Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is contemplating setting up manufacturing units in adjoining spaces of Jagananna Colonies to generate employment opportunities for those living in the colonies,

“Some entrepreneurs and manufacturers from Tirupur Garment Manufacturing and Exporters’ Association in Tamil Nadu had also paid a visit to inspect the land here to assess if such units could be set up here, he added.

The Andhra Pradesh government had recently signed a MoU with the National Institute of Design for promotion of education and marketing of handlooms and textiles from the State.  (KNN Bureau)
