Andhra to develop tourism projects

Hyderabad, Aug 1 (KNN) The Government of Andhra Pradesh is planning to develop various tourism related projects under PPP mode in the districts of Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Prakasham, Nellore, Chittoor and Kadapa.

“Andhra Pradesh, with a rich cultural heritage and abundance of natural resources, offers attractive investment opportunities to private developers and investors.   The State has picturesque beaches along the 1000 kms coast line, hills, wildlife and forests, forts, temples, a large number of Buddhist sites, bird sanctuaries etc,” an official notification said.

It said that the World Tourism Organization has identified certain clusters for tourism development that include Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Vijayawada, and Nagarjunasagar in Andhra Pradesh. 

Giving priority to the tourism sector, the government has identified tourism projects with land availability such as beach resorts, recreational, entertainment, theme parks, international convention centres, house boats, ropeway across river Krishna, oceanarium, golf course, eco-tourism etc.

Further, vacant lands of the Government or its instrumentalities will be given on lease basis for a term commensurate with the nature of the project and investment, however, not exceeding 33 years with annual lease rentals that will be stipulated besides a reasonable sharing of annual gross revenues from the date of commercial operation of the project.  There will be a specified holiday period for payment of this revenue share. 

In addition, there will be a concessional rate of stamp duty and registration fee for registration of the lease deed and a single window system under this Department to facilitate the applicable permits, sanctions etc. to construct and operate the project. The lease hold rights can be mortgaged for securing loans from the financial institutions.  An officer will be designated as the nodal officer to assist and guide the selected entrepreneur in the construction and operation of the project. 

In this context, the state government seeks bids from reputed companies including registered partnership and limited liability partnership firms of national and international (Applicants) with proven experience and financial capabilities in tourism.  (KNN/ES)
