AP national highways to be developed through PPP mode

Hyderabad, Apr 9 (KNN) The Union Ministry for Road Transport and Highways has cleared 11 state roads as national highways in Andhra Pradesh, spanning a length of 1,817 km.

Of these, five state roads have already been notified as national highways while the rest have been now cleared to be national highways.

“National Highways will be developed at the cost of Rs 5,000 crore through Public Private Partnership Model (PPP) in the state of Andhra Pradesh.  The 485 kms of National Highways were notified in August-September 2012.  Rest of the of 1332 kms state roads to be developed in to National Highways have been notified on March 22, 2013,” said Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Sarvey Sathyanarayana.

With this, Andhra Pradesh will have 28 national highway projects spanning a total length of 6,547 km, including 17 national highways which were completed and which cover a stretch of 4,730 km.  (KNN)
