APIIC to upgrade industrial zones, SEZs in state to attract investment

Amaravati, Aug 5 (KNN) The Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) has begun the process to upgrade the existing infrastructure in the industrial zones and SEZs in order to attract more investments to the state.

The corporation has finalised a blueprint to build the premises of the industries as model areas which clear the property tax dues. APIIC has set a new record in collection of advance property tax of Rs 40 crore in the month of July.

Javvadi Subramanyam, APIIC managing director has begun the site inspection to know about the grievances of industrialists in the designated industrial zones. He also visited the industrial growth centre on the outskirts of Ongole town and met with the managements of the industries.

Subramanyam urged the Industry managements to come out with innovative measures to utilise the huge quantities of waste material from the granite polishing units lying in the growth centre to make waste stones.

“It will be better to rope in some entrepreneurs involved in the construction sector to ponder over the ways to make use of such material. We needed to look for some innovative solutions to dispose granite waste,” he said.

Subramanyam directed the zonal manager Venkateswarlu to take up construction of new drains and roads in the growth centre immediately. Many industries in the growth centre utilised the 5 per cent discount offered on payment of property tax before July 31 and we needed to respond to their grievances.

The state government is planning to utilise the existing vacant plots in the growth centre for attracting the new units. (KNN Bureau)
