As MSMEs complain of poor power supply in MP, discoms plan to install 2500 distribution boxes, more transformers

Bhopal, Feb 21 (KNN) After receiving several complaints from the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Madhya Pradesh regarding frequent power cuts and poor power supply hitting their productions, the power distribution company is planning to install as many as 2500 distribution boxes.

State power distribution companies (Discoms) are planning to install additional transformers and 2500 distribution boxes in industrial belts housing small scale units ahead of summers to ensure proper power supply here.

Speaking with KNN India, President of Madhya Pradesh Small Scale Industries Organization (MPSSIO), Kilash Agrawal welcomed the step and hoped that the initiative will resolve the problem of power distribution across MP.

“There is a need of feeder separation in Madhya Pradesh, so the installation of 2500 distribution boxes in industrial belts housing small scale units will benefit the industries in MP,” said Agrawal.

Feeder separation refers to the supply of electricity to agricultural and non-agricultural consumers (domestic and non-domestic) separately through dedicated feeders.

This arrangement allows the distribution company to regulate power supply to agricultural consumers as and when needed for effective demand side management (DSM).

He added, “In MP production of power is already in surplus, the only issue is the distribution of it between agricultural sector and industrial sector.”

Agricultural sector need supply for 6-8 hours and industries need power supply for 24 hours, so it should be distributed accordingly, he said.

Industry associations representing MSME have been complained of frequent power cut leading to abrupt breaking of process of operations causing hefty losses. (KNN/JM)
