Itanagar, Dec 10 (KNN) Until the connectivity of the North Easter region with the neighbouring countries along with the infrastructure are fully established, the micro and macro benefit of the Act East Policy cannot be assessed, Parliament was told.

Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region Jitendra Singh in Lok Sabha said this in a written reply to a question.

The objective of "Act East Policy" is to promote economic cooperation, cultural ties and develop strategic relationship with countries in the Asia-Pacific region through continuous engagement at bilateral, regional and multilateral levels thereby ending the economic isolation of the States of North Eastern Region including Arunachal Pradesh.

Establishing connectivity with the neighbouring countries and within NER, and development of other infrastructure are integral part of Act East Policy, he said. (KNN Bureau)
