Bengaluru-based textiles giant Texport to create employment to about 2,000 persons in 3 years

New Delhi, Feb 26 (KNN) In a development that will give impetus to the textile industry in the State, Bengaluru-based readymade textiles giant Texport has decided to set up an apparel manufacturing factory at Sircilla. 

The company will install 800 machines and employ 1,600 persons and later expand to 1000 machines to create employment to about 2,000 persons in three years.

In this direction, the Government of Telangana and Texport Industries have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the presence of IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao.

According to the MoU signed by Handlooms and Textiles Commissioner Shailaja Ramaiyer and Texport Managing Director Narendra D Goenka, Texport will set up its apparel manufacturing factory on a plug-and-play mode in the built-to-suit (BTS) unit to be constructed by the Government of Telangana in 7.42 acre in the Apparel Park at Siricilla.

For the first time in the country, an export oriented garment manufacturing built-to-suit (BTS) units are coming up utilizing the state-of-the-art manufacturing ecosystem in Siricilla region. 

This will enable forward integration of Siricilla powerloom weaving industry with the apparel and garment manufacturing process, providing more value to the textile sector development in the State. 

Further, it will provide more skills and employment opportunities to locals.

Rama Rao expressed happiness over Texport setting up its apparel manufacturing factory in Sircilla. He assured the company of complete support and assistance from the Government of Telangana. 

Goenka said Sircilla has skilled workers and this has encouraged them to set up a facility here. He also added that the Telangana Government’s industry-friendly policies have attracted the company to the State.

Texport, operating since 1978, is one of the first companies in India to start export operations. It deals with the manufacture of woven as well as knitted garments like shirts, jackets, trousers, t-shirts, sleepwear and others. It produces more than 17 million garments annually from 19 directly owned facilities across the country. 

TIPL currently employs more than 15,000 people and has an installed capacity of more than 6,000 machines. Its annual revenues are about Rs 620 crore. (KNN Bureau)
