Bhubaneswar, May 23 (KNN) The Odisha Department of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) is working towards making online soon its various processes such as registration and renewal of schemes to enhance the sector.

The objective is not only to simplify and speed up processes but also to bring transparency and efficiency into the system, said a media report quoting secretary MSME Department Panchanan Das.

As part of the IT initiative, the department has already made some of its important functions like registration of new enterprises available online.

Also, the department has integrated the provision for online filing of the Entrepreneurs Memorandum (EM) Form -1 for setting up MSMEs from April this year.

More than 1,215 applicants have filed forms online of which 1,029 applications have already been approved.  Further, more than 2,000 applications are expected to be filed this year, according to a report.

Earlier, EM had to be filed manually with District Industries Centre (DICs) which was a lengthy and complicated procedure.

By offering the process online, the whole registration system has been expedited. The system will also lead to better organisation of MSMEs so they effectively avail benefits under different schemes. It would also affect better tracking of EM-1 to EM-2.

The EM-2 process for change of status of enterprises from micro to small or small to medium or vice versa would go online by July, Das stated. (KNN)
