Bihar BJP leaders seek investment by oil PSUs to boost industrialization

New Delhi, Jun 12 (KNN)  Bihar BJP leaders have stressed upon the need for further investment by the Public Sector Oil PSUs in the state to give boost to industrialization in the state.

A delegation of Bihar BJP leaders held a meeting with the Union Minister of State (Independent charge) of Petroleum and Natural gas, Dharmendra Pradhan here today.

The delegation was appraised of the steps being taken to augment the distributorship of LPG, Kerosene and Petroleum products in the state.

Pradhan said that proposals to increase the capacity of Barauni refinery, revive the Barauni fertilizer plant, operationalize the Jagdishpur-Haldia pipeline projects will be vigorously pursued.

He informed that 26 per cent of the state population is now covered through LPG supply and this will be expanded to cover all the blocks of the state in near future. The Minister also said that eastern India is a focus area of the NDA Government, and will be given due weightage in the PSU investment.

He said it is all the more important, as Bihar is the gateway to Nepal for all its petroleum requirements. Pradhan will also be visiting Bihar on June 13 to take stock of the ongoing projects related to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural gas in the state.

The delegation included former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Nand Kishore Yadav, Bihar unit party chief Mangal Pandey etc. (KNN Bureau)
