Buoyed by ODOP success, UP goes from District to Tehsil for selecting unique product for OTOP

Lucknow, July 27 (KNN) The Uttar Pradesh government will soon launch the One Tehsil, One Product’ (OTOP) scheme and has decided to shortlist unique products from every tehsil.

After the success of the One District One Product (ODOP), the State government plans to introduce a similar scheme promoting tehsil level products.

The first phase of its launch will see meetings with district administrations for the identification and shortlisting of unique products in each tehsil spread over 75 districts of the state.

In partnership with an expert organisation, their possibilities will be explored along with understanding the requirements for promotion of the products.

The objective of the Yogi government behind the launch of ODOP was to identify one unique product from each of the 75 districts of UP and create a product-specific traditional industrial hub to boost the state’s economy,” ACS, MSME, Navneet Sehgal said on Tuesday.

The promotion of these products with support the ‘Brand UP’ not only within India but on global platform as well.

This scheme can be considered as an extension of the ODOP wherein the government aims to rope in the MSME department to achieve the goal.  (KNN Bureau)
