Cabinet approves Extension of "Special Industry Initiative for J&K” scheme - Udaan

New Delhi, Sept 21 (KNN) In order to ensure support to the industrial sector for the state of Jammu and Kashmir, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, recently approved the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs for extension of time period of the Scheme "Special Industry Initiative for J&K" (Sll J&K)- Udaan.

Under the proposal, the scheme will be continued in the state till 31st December 2018 without any modification and cost escalation. 

Earlier, the scheme Udaan was to expire by the end of 2016-2017.

The prime focus of the scheme is to help connect industry oriented youth with the entrepreneurs and corporate in the country. 

So far, 109 leading Corporate have partnered with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) under UDAAN and trained youth from the State in different sectors including retail, banking, financial Services, IT, ITES, infrastructure, hospitality etc. 

Udaan is a national integration scheme with the goal to mainstream J&K youth with rest of the country. The scheme helps facilitate skill enhancement and job opportunity and enable the society-industry connect. (KNN/DA)
