CAIT calls out CM Kejriwal over Delhi budget

New Delhi, Mar 28 (KNN) The Delhi based trade body Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has criticized Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for not including schemes or policies in support of trade and commerce in the Rs 75,800 crore budget for FY22-23.

CAIT has called the Delhi budget which was presented by Delhi Finance Minister Manish Sisodia as a hopeless document for the traders of Delhi.

Reacting to the budget Praveen Khandelwal, Secretary General of CAIT said “It reflects the negative attitude of CM Arvind Kejriwal for the trading community of Delhi and we strongly condemn the Budget,”

He said that it is most unfortunate that at a time when the trade of Delhi is reeling under great financial constraint and trying to overcome with the adverse impact of COVID pandemic, the Delhi Government has not allocated any fund for development of business in Delhi neither coming to the rescue of traders who are facing financial crunch.

“It is also most astonishing that not even a single scheme is announced for the trading community in the budget nor any policy measure has been announced to streamline the trade and commerce in Delhi. No plans have been announced to set up Cyber Hubs in Delhi as the revenue of Delhi is transferring to neighbouring cities Gurgaon and Noida,” Khandelwal added.

Delhi being the largest distribution centre of goods in the country having a dependence on trade for revenue, CAIT was hoping that the Delhi Government will do something for the trade but unfortunately it has not given any attention to the traders, he said. (KNN Bureau)
