New Delhi, Jun 27 (KNN)  The Achche Din seem to be coming for handloom industry of Varanasi , the Parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.  The Development Commissioner for Handlooms has started implementing in earnest a comprehensive cluster development scheme under which common facility centres are being set up.

The Development Commissioner for Handlooms, under the Union Textiles Ministry, has sought bids for setting up of common facility centres (CFCs) in the ‘Varanasi Mega Handloom Cluster’.  The CFCs will be in the public-private-partnership (PPP) mode. The government will contribute to the extent of 80 per cent of the project cost components.  This is excluding the cost of the land.

According to a press notification, the mega cluster at Varanasi will work for holistic and integrated development of the handloom sector.  The Hindu revered city, from where the Prime Minister won his Parliamentary seat, is known for traditional weavers, who are, struggling to sustain their art in the wake of hard business realities and infrastructure problems like power cuts.

The Centre is also working on a scheme for providing invertor batteries for the weavers of the city, which has high hopes on the NDA Government that saw a convincing victory by the BJP and its partners on the plank of “Ache Din Aane Wale Hai’( Good days are about to come).  (KNN/PC)
