Centre will help Telangana govt in promoting tourism: Tourism Minister

New Delhi, May 14 (KNN) Union Minister of State for Culture (Independent Charge), Tourism (Independent Charge) and Civil Aviation, Mahesh Sharma said the centre will help Telangana government to promote tourism which in turn would generate income and employment for the local people.

In a meeting on Wednesday to discuss the prospects of promoting tourism in Telangana, Sharma said the Tourism Ministry will make all efforts to ensure that the state is developed as a tourist destination.

The meet was attended by the Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment (Independent Charge) and MP from Telangana, Bandaru Dattatreya. He was accompanied by Chairman of Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation (TSTDC), Pervaram Ramulu.

They discussed the potential of promoting tourism in the newly created state of Telengana.

Emphasising that that there is a lot of potential in Telengana for the development of Tourism sector, Dattatreya said the state has a rich and unique identity of possessing a traditional tribal culture.

This tribal belt extends for nearly two hundred kilometres between Nagarjunasagar Dam and Srisailam. These tribes and their rich ethnic art, culture and traditions can help to promote tourism in the region, he said.

Secretary, Tourism, Dr Lalit Panwar and other senior officials of the Ministry of Tourism were also present in the meeting. (KNN/ST)
