Dehradun, Feb 28 (KNN)  The Uttarakhand Government is establishing Centres of Excellence for skill upgradation in the areas of mechanical and allied engineering with the help of private sector organisations.

In this regard, the state government has already signed an agreement with PTC India and Dysmech Consultancy Services for improving the quality of technical education in four state engineering colleges and two government polytechnics in the state.

It is now inviting reputed industrial houses to partner with the state government to set up similar centres of excellence in state engineering colleges and government polytechnics.

In Uttarakhand, technical education is offered through a 4-tier education system: industrial and vocational training for skilled workers and craftsmen (ITI level); technical education (polytechnic level), degree courses in engineering and technology; and post graduate courses and research programmes.   (KNN/ES)
