Check dam to come up at Mewat with Japanese grant

New Delhi, Mar 21 (KNN)  The PHD Rural Development Foundation has received a grant of USD 53,532 from the Japanese Government to construct a Check Dam at Mohmadbas Village in Mewat District of Haryana. 

“The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to this effect was signed between the Embassy of Japan and the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry here on Thursday,” an official notice said. 

The grant was released to the Chamber in recognition to its services towards rural development at grassroots levels at various places in India, focusing on areas of livelihood promotion and water harvesting since 1981.
 
The MoU stipulates that the Chamber would build a 700 feet long check dam within a period of one year and its water utilized for multiple purposes which include irrigation, drinking as also to promote and raise the water levels in the adjoining areas, said Executive Director, PHD Chamber, Saurabh Sanyal. 
 
The rural development foundation of the PHD Chamber has been winning laurels from various governmental and non-governmental agencies for its pioneering work to uplift weaker sections of society.  (KNN/ES)
