Hyderabad, Sept 14 (KNN) Former MLA Chintha Prabhakar has been appointed as the Chairman of Telangana State Handloom Development Corporation.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi leaders and cadre in Sangareddy termed his appointment as an honour and reward to hard work and loyalty.

Prabhakar worked in major development aspects of the state between 2018 and 2022 by pursuing with Finance Minister T Harish Rao, IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.

Telangana has a significant Handloom Industry and there are about 59,325 Handloom weavers including ancillary workers.

There are about 41,556 Powerlooms working in the State and 527 Weavers Cooperative Societies consisting of Cotton-259, Silk-40, and Wool-35.

Besides this, there are 78- Powerlooms and Garments/Tailors-115 other societies.  (KNN Bureau)
