Ludhiana, Aug 24 (KNN) In a bid to upgrade industry with technology, Chamber of Industrial & Commercial Undertakings (CICU) has emphasised on industry academia collaboration.

S Upkar Singh Ahuja, President CICU & CMD- New Swan Group, while addressing the gathering on Tuesday, stated that the technology upgradation is a dire need of the industry. Acquiring technology from countries like Japan, China, Korea, and the USA are very costly.

''There are many success stories worldwide, where industry and academia collaborate and do joint research. Industry in India is not so successful. Colleges and Universities must focus on research and development and develop an ecosystem to support industry in terms of Lean Manufacturing, Quality Improvement, Low Cost Automation, New Product Development, analytics, Digital Support etc,'' he added.

On the occasion, he also recalled how his CICU has signed MoU with Institutes like GNE, IIT (Ropar), CT University and other reputed colleges and Universities.

CICU is always on the forefront of industry academia collaboration. It organizes regular industrial visits programs and job fairs from time to time to bridge the gap, he said.

CICU president further said that industry is eager to join hands with the institutions and also pitched for constructive educational curriculum programs with industrial grooming and training the most integral part.
