CICU requests customs to allow transport of containers

Ludhiana, Oct 19 (KNN) As the imports has been affected due to the halt in the rail traffic, the Chamber of Industrial & Commercial Undertakings (CICU) has requested the Ludhiana Commissioner of Customs to consider importers’ requests to help them get their containers from gateway ports or hub transit ports by submitting a suitable transit bond.

“We also request you to give suitable guidelines to all stakeholders to bring in the import containers to ICD Ludhiana by alternate means on a reasonable tariff,” said Upkar Singh Ahuja, CICU president.

According to the CICU president, the importers of raw material and seasonal goods are stressed as their containers with huge stocks are stuck at either gateway ports or in-transit hub ports.

After hearing their plea, AS Ranga, Commissioner of Customs, assured them that he would look into the matter.
