CICU suggests Punjab govt to provide Dhanansu plots at subsidised rate to promote MSME development

Ludhiana, April 11 (KNN) The Chamber of Industrial & Commercial Undertakings (CICU) has urged the government of Punjab to provide subsidy on purchase of Dhanansu plots located in Ludhiana East tehsil for the promotion and creation of MSMEs in the region.

The Ludhiana based trade body has submitted a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) consisting a range of recommendations across segments during a recent meet with all the MLAs from the newly elected Aam Aadmi Party government.

Area residents of Dhanansu have showed enthusiasm about the developments taking place, hence plots of sizes 500 sq. yd., 1000 sq. yd., and 2000 sq. yd. should be given at subsidized rates for the promotion of new MSME industries becomes easier, said the chamber.

On issues related to infrastructure, it has been suggested to upgrade Institute of Auto Parts & Hand Tools, Institute of Machine Tools, Institute of Bicycle and sewing machine etc.

“This will help the industry in technological upgradation, and the government must provide all support needed for revival of MSME with minimal paper work and documentation,” said CICU.

It has demanded the approval of building plan from Directorate of Factories Punjab and has appealed it to consider it as final and multiple agencies should not be involved.

CICU has also suggested that instead of installing Smart Meters on all units having LS connections, these meters should be installed only where theft of electricity is apprehended.

Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission does not take into account any suggestions given by Industry. It should be made mandatory for PSERC to implement some of the suggestions given by industry, said the industrial body. (KNN Bureau)
