CICU urges Punjab govt to stop free trains for migrants as industries open

Ludhiana, May 25 (KNN) Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU) along with 33 affiliated industrial associations has urged the state government to stop the free trains for the migrants wishing to return to their home states.
In a letter written to the Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Saturday, the industrialists cited free travel as the reason behind the movement of migrants and apprised Capt Singh that the industry is in dire need of labourers as the industrial operations are gaining momentum in the city.
''Almost 50% labour has left the city. Those who want to go to their hometown must pay for the ticket and travel,'' said CICU president Upkar Singh Ahuja and general secretary Pankaj Sharma.
''Industry required labour now, as it started production. Availability of labour is decreasing day by day because they are leaving for home,'' they added.
The duo further requested to start trains from labour home towns with immediately effect.
