CII urges Puducherry CM to postpone power tariff hike

Puducherry, Jun 1 (KNN) The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Puducherry has urged the government to postpone the power tariff hike recommended by the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC).

In this regard, a CII team led by chairman, M Sankaranarayanan met Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy and put forth the demand.

''The increase in electricity tariff would impact the competitiveness of industry in the State especially in the current difficult situation,'' he said.

Citing the current scenario of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), the CII pointed out that any upward revision of electricity tariff would further impact their growth.

The CII team also briefed Narayanasamy on the various initiatives taken on the socio-economic front especially in the context of COVID-19 and reiterated its collaborative role in working for the revival of economic activity in the State.
